The Bridges of Light represents the metamorphosis we all share as we absorb our true potential and develop into more than we ever realized. We have the opportunity to give back, to share inspiration and wonder, imagination and passion; a catalyst for positive growth.

Have you ever noticed how beautiful the city looks as you drive by on I-95 ? We applaud Jacksonvilles brilliant design and attention to night beauty.

aytona’s greatest resource is the energy of the people who call it home. Our citizens have done a fantastic job in making a wide variety of groups feel welcome; coupled with our beautiful coastline and waterways we offer a unique experience that has kept people coming back.

As a friend to many, we have made our home warm and inviting. We encourage our guests to feel, relaxed, inspired and rejuvenated! The Bridges of Light plan aims to create that same feeling and project it back onto our citizens. It is vital that we shape an environment that nurtures the spirit of those who sustain it. It is that spirit, the life force of our community, which defines our current quality of life and holds the key to our future. To nourish this spirit, our collective personality, is to bring the people together and surround them with beauty and abundance - this is how we thrive. The Bridges of Light is a way to bring people out of their homes, invigorate their senses and introduce a new way to feel a part of our community.

The vitality and appeal of Daytona will be on full display therefore, the reach of this project will expand much further than our out-lying areas. With the brilliance of our night time horizon visible far and wide, the allure of our city will continue to bring people from all over the world. Imagine the spectacle boaters will see as they travel down the canal; and marvel at the brilliant colors sculpting the bridges. Imagine the view from all over the city as our visitors navigate by land. This is just one more reason for people to come and stay in our city, shop in our stores and dine in our restaurants. Studies show that similar projects have increased commerce, both maintained and increased property value, and enhanced lifestyle fulfillment for its residents. We will see measurable results…with unlimited capacity!

The Bridges of Light is more than a beautification project though. It is our intention for the bridges and their parks to become a circuit for the community to plug into; by adding sound to the parks that sit down under, we reclaim spaces that have been underutilized and adjust them to be functional for a wider variety of programs. In turn we create a platform for other groups to also draw the public, partner organizations, and bring people together. Utilizing these parks each week is a perfect way to connect our backyards, make our garden of friends denser, and exemplify the feeling of abundance.

The Bridges of Light proposes to bring 55 events to the parks each year. Free events for people of all ages to come and enjoy this “bridging experience!” Five main events will highlight our efforts and big celebrations will be held on the bridges themselves. Providing people with a new way to get together will encourage more events and motivate personal interest in developing ideas that benefit the many. We want to engage our residents by giving them an invitation to utilize our best resource – each other. Creating concerts on the water, festivals on the bridges, and immersing the parks with sound, will give our community an extraordinary experience unique to our city, rivaled by no other. The results will be measurable…the impact, phenomenal!

The Bridges of Light is a progressive approach to improving our city. The benefit of such a project is for the entire area, not just one neighborhood, not just one section of town, all of Daytona! By utilizing our resources wisely this project is an economical way to adorn our city in brilliance. Lighting these structures in a dazzling display of color will create a visual sense of unity, linking the whole city. These bridges will become symbols for our appreciation of beauty and the spirit that ignites our community into development and prosperity.
